You spilled water all over yourself and the table at Newport Creamery. We laughed and laughed. You’re awesome.

While your brother was sleeping, we had this conversation on my computer about what you could have for lunch:
I bought you turkey and cheese yesterday
Can I make turkey and cheese and rice pilaf
A)
Do you know how to make rice pilaf?
B)
If you know how to make rice pilaf, then yes,
you may do so, but the turkey and cheese have to be roll-ups – no bread. Otherwise it’s too many carbs.
C)
What if it was natures own bread? Doesn’t matter
– carbs are carbs and bread is bread. What if I only had half of the rice
pilaf? Oh, girlfriend, don’t think you
were going to have a whole box. You were
going to have whatever the box says is a serving size. What of I have half of
that? Well, let’s look at what that
is. 1 cup, using the measuring cup. Can I
have halfa cup with bread? Yes. BUT, you
still have to make the whole box, so you’ll need to put the rest of it into a
container into the fridge. AND as
PUNISHMENT for making a WHOLE box and making ME smell the DELICIOUSNESS of the
rice pilaf, you will have to empty the dishwasher. I think not. Go to your
room. Nah im good. Just FYI – Daddy is
coming home soon. I’m taking Peter for a
Covid test at 1. L
He has the chills and isn’t feeling well. Good for him, can I after
school? No – while you’re waiting the
rice pilaf is simmering down, per the instructions. Fine. Bye, mother person
lady thing

You and your brother cannot stop laughing - hysterically - over what you're reading on a website about butts.
"We have to know so we know if we're making the right decisions for our anus."

You: "I guess."
Me: "You said your friends were going to miss you."
You: "I said they were going to ask where I was."
Me: "And where did you say you were?"
You: "In the United States of Nunya."
...pause...
You: "I am so your daughter."

About six weeks ago, you and I were snuggling and I leaned down to you and said, "I love you so much". And you looked up at me and said, "I wish I could say the same."
Last night you were playing a board game with your cousins and when it was Uncle Paul's turn you said, "Ok big boy, your turn."

It is now part of your narrative that at age 6, you got up on the high school stage at the annual variety show and sang "Fight Song" solo. Your dad and I are so incredibly proud of you. You are the bravest kid I know. You rocked it!!

Ugh - I wish I remembered to write more, but now that you're so big the days go by so fast. You and your brother are asleep next to me right now. Daddy is away in Chicago, so we're having a sleepover. We all sang This Land Is Your Land before you guys went to bed. Your brother loves reading to you. Sometimes you're totally into it, and other times you get mad because you can't see the pictures. Nicole and Angelica told me today that they think you're kind of annoyed that you're still at the daycare. That since most of the other pre-kinders have left for the summer, that you're ready to be done now. I can see it too. You're all of a sudden annoyed with the little kids, who have started to come on your side now. I can't believe we're almost done with this first small phase of your life. Yesterday you were the little kid crying, and now you can't be bothered by them. You graduated from pre-k a couple of weeks ago. I wish time would slow down a little, but I do know that I'm doing my very best to enjoy every moment together. I wonder if you realize how much I love you. I wonder if you know how much your brother thinks you're the best little sister. I wonder if you can tell that Daddy is breaking his back so that we can have fun nights like this.

I'm a little late in writing this, but on Tuesday you turned 5. Five. Fiiiiive. That's crazy. To me you still have short little pig tails, and here you are - five. You loved your birthday, and you had such a smile on your face whenever someone wished you a happy birthday. You loved singing Happy Birthday to yourself and changing the lyrics to "Happy birthday to me". We went to Ho Hos for dinner at your request, with Nonna, Papa, Gip, and Gramma.
Your birthday party is on Saturday night, and today actually you had kindergarten orientation. You seem nervous about going to kindergarten, but you keep telling me you're not. We got to take a bus ride, which you definitely thought was cool, and you told me that you made some friends. You still seemed apprehensive after, though.

I fell while running today and sprained my ankle. You took care of me by playing a game that involved putting Easter baskets on our heads, tossing a big blue ball to each other, and taking turns shooting the fart gun at each other. I had so much fun laughing with you. :)
